29 MAY 2019 | SHANGRI-LA, SINGAPORETHE WORLD'S LARGEST TECH DIVERSITY EVENT
Technology, one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting industries, continues to be blighted by one disheartening issue: where are all the women?
Coming to Singapore for the first time, the Women in IT Awards Asia 2019 aims to readdress gender imbalance within the tech sector.
By showcasing the achievements of women in the sector and identifying new role models, the Women in IT Awards Asia 2019 shines a light on female talent achieving success in the sector.
Encouragingly, a university in Malaysia has managed to enrol 60% female computer science students and a university in Thailand came close with 50% women on its computer science courses. However, sadly these figures do not resonate for the rest of Asia with women in IT lacking in Japan, Korea and India. In Singapore, female representation in the IT sector has been hovering around 30% since 2000, even as more have climbed the ranks and taken on senior leadership positions.
Since its launch in 2015 the Women in IT Awards have showcased women in technology in London and New York, with new launches in Asia, Ireland and San Francisco planned. Organised by business-technology site Information Age, the Women in IT Awards Asia acts as a flagship and high-profile platform to support the industry in its mission to move the dial on gender.
Offering a series of awards, ranging from CIO of the year through to Rising Star, the program provides a platform to identify females at all levels achieving great things in Asia.
Since its launch in 1995, Information Age has been regarded as one of the most respected technology titles in the B2B realm. More than 20 years on, the brand stands as the UK’s leader in UK IT thought leadership, holding a strong influence over its esteemed readership of IT decision-makers, which also partake extensively in IA’s end-user focused awards, conferences and roundtables. Meanwhile, information-age.com continues to grow as a trusted source of news, analysis and thought leadership among a wider audience of readers involved in the strategic implementation of business technology.
